After Dark and RAM Doubler For optimum performance, we suggest Mac users disable After Dark and RAM Doubler. Choose Controls Panels from the Apple menu. Choose Extensions Manager and uncheck the extensions for these products. Restart your computer. c. Virtual Memory For optimum performance, we suggest Mac users turn Virtual Memory off. Choose Control Panels from the Apple menu. Choose Memory and choose OFF under Virtual Memory. Restart your computer. d. Monitor Color Depth The artwork displayed in InventorLabs uses 16-bit color (thousands of colors) to display the full richness of the images, and we recommend that you set your monitor to thousands of colors to experience the full value of the product. Setting the monitor to 8-bit color reduces the amount of RAM required for the product but it degrades performance and the resolution of the images. With CD-ROM drives becoming ever faster and more disc sensitive, it has never been more important to handle CD-ROMs with extreme care. A compact disc is made from two thin layers of polycarbonate, sandwiching the data-encoded reflective surface. The surface of the disc is very easily scratched. Normally a CD-ROM drive can cope with small surface scratches without any problems. However, if these scratches are too long, too deep or too numerous, the CD-ROM drive may have trouble reading the data. Similar problems will result from dirt and grease accumulating on the playing surface. To avoid getting dirt on the disc, always hold it by the edges, and never touch the playing surface. Should the disc become dirty or scratched, clean the surface with a lens cloth, using a short radial strokes. Should the disc be very dirty, use a proprietary CD cleaner or a lens cloth with a CD cleaning fluid. If the disc is badly scratched, there are CD cleaners available that can repair some of this damage. Compact discs should also be kept well away from extreme heat, as this can warp the disc or damage the surface. 8) Internet Access Setup InventorLabs: Transportation includes a feature that will set up your web browser for easy access to the Internet.
